The, hard and resistant, limestone from Chauvigny has always been used since man first started using stone to build shelters. It has also been used in building monuments and First World War memorials.

As means of transport were improved, this high quality material was carried over longer distances, in France and around the world.

Lavoux

The site spreads across 13 hectares and 1300 cubic meters are extracted from it each year.

The reputation of this medium-hard, frost resistant and easy to use limestone, is reknowned throughout the world.

So, this fine grained stone from Lavoux is required when renovation work is carried out on many of the historic monuments in France.

Chitré (Tuffeau)

 

The soft limestone from the Chitré quarry, also called "Tuffeau", was used to build the Châteaux in the Loire valley.

It is ideal for exterior or interior renovation work.

Tercé

This quarry is well-known for the important size of the blocks which are extracted there.

The stone from Tercé is whitish in colour, medium-hard and fine grained. It is very resistant, homogeneous and is speckled with crystalline dots.

This particular limestone is ideal for use directly on the substructure, for balustrades, for all kind of intricated stoneworks, for statues, etc...
